Dear parents and visitors,

Welcome to Petersfield Infant School website! Please have a look around to find out about some of the things we do that makes our school such a happy, fun and enjoyable place to learn.

I trained at Frobel College, which is part of Roehampton University in South London many many moons ago and began my teaching career at Sir James Barrie Infant School in Battersea. After 5 years there, I moved back to Petersfield, where I had lived since the age of 7 and taught for 12 years at Sun Hill Infant School in Alresford. I moved to Petersfield Infant School as Year R Leader in 2002 and then went on to lead in both Years 1 and 2. I became Deputy Headteacher in April 2011 and Headteacher in January 2017.

I am totally committed to offering each child a unique learning experience. At our school, emotional development, social adjustment and positive attitudes are equally as important as the acquisition of skills and knowledge. We also firmly believe in a true partnership between home and school and see it as a vital extension to the key role our parents play as their child’s first educators. The views and concerns of all our parents are considered and highly valued.

It is the school’s policy to teach both the Key Stage One National Curriculum and the EYFS Curriculum through a topic based approach, with Literacy and Numeracy addressed as separate subjects. The themes are carefully planned to allow for the children’s natural pleasure in, and enthusiasm for, practical experiences, their love of investigation and their need to acquire skills, both physical and mental. The essential skills of working together as a team and the skills of cooperation and leadership, all add to the completeness of our learning process. We believe that an interested learner is a more willing learner. We tailor our curriculum towards real life experiences, wherever possible, with hands on learning opportunities at the very heart of our curriculum delivery. Our location in the centre of Petersfield enables us to complement many curricular activities in this way.

Petersfield Infant School offers all the facilities of a modern school, whilst retaining many of the more traditional and endearing qualities of the old. We look forward to welcoming you to our school. If you would like to find out more or arrange a visit to look around, please contact the school office.

Best wishes,
