School Trip

We all had an amazing time on our first big school trip.  We took the coach to Staunton Country Park for the day, and spent our time being sensory nature detectives!

It has been very exciting to watch our chrysalises change into beautiful butterflies. This week we set them free and watched them fly away.

Our new story is What the Ladybird Heard. In Drawing Club we drew some fantastic maps of the farm and labelled all the animals.

One of our star challenges was to make our own ladybirds using our careful cutting skills.

In RE we have been learning about what special means. This week we found out what special clothes Jewish people might wear.

We have also been practising riding the bikes outside.

Our story this week is The Crunching Munching Caterpillar. Now that our class caterpillars have become chrysalises, we are imagining what sort of butterflies they will become and what they might see when they are free!

We have enjoyed crafting our own caterpillars!

We have been using our fantastic writing skills in our play!

The sunshine has come out this week and it finally feels more like spring. We have loved having fun in the sun, but we also worked together to build dens to relax in the shade with our friends, too!

Our story this week is Jasper’s Beanstalk, and we worked collaboratively on our art to create a class beanstalk in each class!

We drew careful drawings of the caterpillars.

We enjoyed learning to scoot.

This week we have been finding out about caterpillars.  We have caterpillars in our classrooms and have enjoyed watching them grow bigger and bigger!

We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle and drew some posters to describe what the caterpillar looks like. We also wrote shopping lists of food that he might eat to help him grow.

In Maths we have been describing and copying patterns. We also created our own beautiful butterflies using loose parts.

In maths this week we have been looking at different ways to make six. We used counters and a special template called a ‘ten frame’ to help us to see and describe the parts, for example ‘six is made of three and three’.

We have been inspired by the story of ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ to design and write about a trap to catch the giant! We’ve also been building giant castles.

Now that the weather is warmer, we have been learning about what plants need to grow and have been busy panting seeds. I wonder what they will grow into?
