Children's School Leadership Roles

At Petersfield Infant School, we truly believe in nurturing our children's potential to play active and positive roles in all aspects of school life.
We have developed a variety of leadership roles for our children, allowing them the chance to hold positions of responsibility that positively impact our school community. All children are encouraged to embrace these opportunities and take pride in the responsibilities they can undertake.

School Council
School Councillors are the voices and representatives of their class, and the school. They are given an important task to complete or to discuss with their class, something that will benefit our school, for example ‘how can playtimes be made more fun’, or, ‘what type of books would you like to see more of in the library?’. School Council meetings occur every half term, and children are invited to share and discuss ideas with everyone. To allow every child the chance to take on leadership responsibilities, these roles are shared out throughout the three years.

New Arrival Ambassadors
Our New Arrival Ambassadors are a team of Year 2 children chosen for their warm smiles and friendly nature. Embodying our School Values of Kindness, Respect and Resilience, they play a vital role in welcoming new children into our school community. The New Arrival Ambassadors complete a special training programme to ensure all new children are made to feel welcome. They take time to show new children around the school and are a friendly face in the playground.

Safety Superstars
Working together with our Site Manager, our Safety Superstars carry out regular checks on various items and areas throughout the school to ensure they remain safe for all to use and enjoy. The Safety Superstars record their findings which are then fed back to our Headteacher as well as our Health and Safety Governor.
Playground Wizards
The school playground is a hub of activity and excitement at both break time and lunchtime! Our Year 2 Playground Wizards are instrumental in helping to tidy away equipment at the end of play and responsibly ensure the playground is left clear, tidy and safe.
